Area Schools Prepare For Winter Storm & Possible Closures

The upcoming winter storm is disrupting school activities around the lake area…and that’s before we really get any of the of snow expected.

Officials say they are anticipating school closures into next week and will be working to prepare for coming back to class, whenever that may be….

“All of the property that’s got to be cleared off and make sure it’s ready for our staff and for our students and different things like that, so, so much just to prepare for that first day.”

Camdenton R3 Transportation Director Tony Hatfield also says the side roads will present bigger challenges because they will often stay snow or ice packed for several days after the main roads are cleared.

Another x-factor to a smooth return to classes, according to Hatfield, is making sure the buses start up again during the colder temperatures.
