Three million residents are identified as being in areas of drought across Missouri…up by 46 percent compared to just a week ago.
With the exception of a small region in northwest Missouri, the northern 75-80 percent of the state is categorized as being in moderate-to-abnormally dry areas of drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
In the lake area, all but the very northern part of Miller County…which is put in the moderate category…are considered to be abnormally dry.
Otherwise, severe to extreme drought conditions are reported in southern Missouri.
