Mid-County Fire District Reports a Record-Breaking March

The recent rash of brush fires around the lake area is being called one of the reasons for the record-breaking month of March for Mid-County firefighters.

Chief Scott Frandsen says, in March alone, personnel responded to 283 calls for service…79 of the calls for brush and natural cover fires. Mid-County crews also responded to 11 structure fires and 17 reports of hazardous conditions such as downed power lines with, at least, a few of those calls being attributed to the natural cover fires.

The 283 calls for the month easily topped the previous monthly record of 270 calls set in July of 2022.
