The Missouri Supreme Court, on Wednesday, heard arguments in an appeal about a state law that bans children from most transgender treatments.
At issue, according to opponents, is that the law is unconstitutional because it targets a gender transition and violates the Equal Protection Clause…a claim which has already been rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 8th District.
Specifically, health care providers are prohibited from performing gender-transition surgeries on minors or prescribing cross-sex hormones or puberty-blocking drugs to minors and can have their health care licenses revoked for violations of the law which went into effect in 2023.
A decision on the appeal by the Missouri Supreme is expected to take about a month.
