Osage Nation In Town As Progress Continues Towards Future Casino Project

What appears to be inevitable and now perhaps the worst kept secret, the waiting continues for an official announcement that the Osage Nation can proceed with plans to locate a casino complex at Lake of the Ozarks.

Representatives from the Osage Casinos marketing department were in the lake area this past weekend confirming that the $100-million-plus development is still under federal review after a Draft Environmental Assessment was recently made public. Another key step includes the 29 acres near the Osage Beach Parkway and Bagnell Dam Boulevard being taken into federal trust status.

The effort to land a casino in Lake Ozark continued despite the city, in June of 2023, voting down a resolution of support with then-mayor Dennis Newberry casting a tie-breaking vote.

If final approval is received, including Governor Mike Kehoe signing off on the development, the first phase will include the casino, a restaurant, a sports bar and meeting space.
