It’s official…Camden County will have a new presiding commissioner following the August Primary and November General Election later this year.
Any questions about whether current Presiding Commissioner Ike Skelton would file for re-election were answered during his appearance Tuesday on the KRMS Ozarks Today program when he, instead, announced that he is running for the District 6 Senate position.
“I drove up to Jefferson City and I signed up and I’m going to ask the people to be their senator in the state of Missouri for the 6th Senatorial District.”
Skelton will be challenged in the August Primary by five other Republican candidates…Doctor Lisa Thomas of Lake Ozark, Amber Buckles of Macks Creek, Jake Vogel and Derrick Spicer of Jefferson City, and Rudy Veit of Wardsville.
Running unopposed for the Democrat nomination is J. Don Salcedo of Jefferson City.
With the announcement by Skelton that he’s making a bid for the Senate, all eyes back in Camden County will be on the August Primary Race for what will be Skelton’s former seat as the presiding commissioner.
Running for the Republican nomination are Nick Sherrell, Kathy Campbell and Nathan Patton while Daniel Ousley and Mike McDuffey are running for the Democratic nomination.
