A Camdenton man accused of two attempted carjackings in April of 2024 is off to prison after being sentenced this week in a Boone County Circuit courtroom.

Josue Lopez had been accused of trying to carjack the first vehicle at a Break Time in Columbia. That attempt came to a quick end when Lopez got out of the car and fled when a backseat passenger picked up an alternator acting like she was going to clock him in the head with it.

Lopez was then later pursued in another stolen car before being taken into custody in Jefferson City.

Lopez was sentenced to 15 years on a vehicle hijacking charge, seven years on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle, another seven years on an assault charge and four years for resisting arrest…all four of the sentences are to be served concurrently at the same time.
