Missouri is poised for a significant demographic shift in the next 10 years.

The state estimates that by 2030, older Missourians will outnumber minors.

Stacy Morse of the Missouri Council on Aging says findings in a new report could be critical for lawmakers, organizations, and residents.

She’s urging Missourians to review and comment on the draft Master Plan on Aging: Missourians Aging with Dignity, available for public input through September 15, 2025.

The report, by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services was compiled after numerous town halls and input from over 130-thousand residents.

The report is billed as a 10-year roadmap to ensure residents “…age safely, with dignity, and in the community of their choice.”

The plan aims to strengthen and support families and caregivers, as well as protect older Missourians from financial fraud and abuse.  Also, the report includes key priorities of the Missouri Council on Aging, including a caregiver shortage, access to services, and financial fraud/exploitation.
