Missouri State Fair Underway In Sedalia With Participants From The Lake Area

The 123rd Missouri State Fair is officially underway with hundreds of thousands expected to converge on the fairgrounds in Sedalia before it’s all over.

Fair Director Jason Moore, talking with the Ozarks This Morning’s Guy Wehman, says the main theme of the fair, as it always will be, starts with agriculture.

We’re the premier showcase for it, our 4H and FFA livestock that you know, that’s our mission and that’s the heart of it, is the youth of our state. So nothing better than sitting in the Coliseum and watching a watching a young man or boy or girl show. The project that they’ve been working on throughout the year.”

Several Lake Area 4H and FFA groups will be participating in the action.

Moore also says, in addition to the usual activities and the different scheduled concerts, the State Fair cannot be a state fair without the different concession stands.

It’s an exciting time when we throw the gates at 8:00 every morning and we just finished up opening ceremonies and that’s always a pleasure. But I’m looking forward to getting out on the grounds, grabbing a corn dog and and being part of the fair.”

The curtain comes down on this year’s State Fair at the end of the day and night on the 17th.
