Wednesday Is World Cancer Day

Today is World Cancer Day… a day to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, remember those who have passed from the epidemic and a day to celebrate survivors.

Hundreds of activities and events are taking place across the country, and beyond, in the hopes that awareness can minimize the global impact of cancer.

The theme for the current three-year cycle of World Cancer Day is “United by Unique.”

Some of the events across Missouri include the “Virtual Race to Fight Cancer” (1M/5K/10K) and American Cancer Society Action Network (ACS CAN) Lights of Hope. Local organizations like Siteman Cancer Center and Gilda’s Club Kansas City also engage in advocacy and support events.
