Willard Man Drowns At Stockton Lake On Monday

A Willard man is dead after drowning while trying to swim across Master’s Cove on Stockton Lake in Cedar County.

The highway patrol says it happened around 4:00 Monday afternoon when the 25-year-old disappeared from the sight of witnesses on the scene.

The man’s body was located by sonar and recovered by dragging about 70 feet from the far shore.

It was the 11^th drowning of the year, statewide, along with one near drowning reported by the highway patrol.
