SBFD Takes Care of Small Natural Cover Fire at Porta Cima Golf Course

Sunrise Beach firefighters get an unexpected call Thursday night to take care of a natural cover fire at the Porta Cima Golf Course.

Chief Joseph LaPlant says, upon arrival, a blaze covering about two acres was discovered which, apparently, was a re-ignite of an unattended burn earlier during the day.

The fire was contained to a wooded area between two holes and the course was not damaged.

Porta Cima personnel remained out throughout the night to monitor the scene.
