Efforts By Local Group To Get Casino On November Ballot Looking Strong So Far

An effort continues to get a statewide issue on the November General election ballot which, if approved, would clear the way for a local group trying to bring casino gambling to the Lake of the Ozarks.

The Osage River Gaming development has been pursuing approval, by initiative petition, of placing the issue before the voters to expand, by one, the number of casino gambling licenses across the state and the location of the added license to allow for that casino to be put in near the Osage River at the lake.

A spokesman for the Osage River Gaming development says the petition drive is progressing.

The group is confident that the required 170,000 signatures will be collected from at least six of the eight congressional districts, statewide, by the deadline in early May to put the issue on the ballot in November.
