Former longtime Missouri Tiger Football Coach Gary Pinkel has now formally been charged with a misdemeanor DWI in Camden County.

A probable cause statement filed by the highway patrol trooper back on July 8th of 2025 says that Pinkel was standing outside his vehicle awkwardly parked with a flat tire at a Lake Ozark business on Bagnell Dam Boulevard.

The statement alleges that Pinkel was arrested based on a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage being detected, a series of questions about the sequence of events leading up to the contact with Pinkel, the alleged performance while attempting different sobriety tests and a breath sample showing a blood-alcohol content of point-1-2-8 percent.

Pinkel was released with no formal charge filed and has since been in the court system trying to get a pending one-year license revocation thrown out based on several factors including claims that he was not legally stopped and there was no reason to believe that he was impaired at the time.

A request filed in Camden County is asking for the DWI charge to be pushed up from a July 28th court date to be taken up on Monday…the same day the revocation proceeding is to return to the courtroom.
