A high-speed chase through St. Robert sends a driver straight into a home, destroying a home-based bread business & narrowly missing the family who were asleep at the time.
According to the St. Robert’s Police Department, officers were in pursuit of a blue dodge charger that was seen speeding through the intersections of Highway W and St. Robert BLVD early this week, going 63 through a 35 mile-per-hour zone.
While attempting to turn right onto Sandstone Drive, the dodge went off the road and crashed into the garage of a home on the corner.
Officers rescued both the driver and passenger stuck inside the vehicle, which had lodged itself into the wall of the home.
The probable cause statement indicated the driver, identified as Swaheli Meadows, told officers he “threw his life away.”
Meadows, who was also identified as a member of the US Military, was found with a BAC level of .167%.
He’s being charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Stop, First-Degree Property Damage and DWI, and is currently out on a $50,000 bond.
The residents of the home were uninjured, despite their bedroom being close to 20 feet from where the accident occurred, however their family’s bread baking business equipment was damaged in the crash.
