Independence Teen Injured By Boat Propeller In KC Area

A 13-year-old girl from Independence escapes with minor injuries after being struck by a boat prop while swimming near Little Platte Swim Beach at Smithville Lake in Clay County.

The highway patrol says it happened around 6:00 Sunday evening when the girl, who was wearing a lifejacket, was trying to board the boat.

She was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
