The final steps toward Missouri’s next fiscal year budget are underway and the names for the Missouri Senate-House conference committees are now known.
Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee Chair, Sen. Dan Hegeman of Cosby, says conference committees are usually created after the Missouri Senate passes its version of a spending plan…“It’s been a pretty good process, to try and put forth a good conservative budget that addresses the needs of the State of Missouri.”
Once conference committees finish their work, the budget will make final stops in the Missouri House of Representatives, and then the Missouri Senate, respectively.
Senator Jill Schupp of Creve Coeur says this budget includes more federal money than normal…“So we had more money to spend this year, which gives us the ability to catch up on things that have often been left out or left behind.”
Additional federal dollars are also contained in capital improvements budgets.
The budget has to be sent to the governor by Friday evening at 6.
