MO Attorney General Joins Other States Asking FCC To “Cut Off” Scammer Access To Real Phone Numbers

The Missouri Attorney General’s Office has joined a coalition of 48 other attorneys general calling on the Federal Communications Commission to strengthen rules to cut off scammers’ access to legitimate telephone numbers.

The Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force asked the FCC to work on this issue in 2021, and members of this coalition are now responding to the FCC’s proposed rules.

Since January of this year, Missourians have received about 513.8 million robocalls equaling roughly, 88.5 calls per person affected. The state Attorney General’s Office also received more than 33,600 no-call complaints in 2025, making it the top consumer complaint.

Nationwide last year, there were more than 29.5 reported robocalls and texts with victims losing nearly $2-billion to the various scams.
