If you believe in various winter-related prognostications, that first snowfall around Missouri is really beginning to knock on our doors.
More specifically, the Farmer’s Almanac pinpoints the first snowfall in Missouri for some time on November 8th, 9th or 10th…just over two weeks away. It’s also a reason MoDOT has already been out going through motions for the department’s winter operations.
Central District Engineer Danny Roeger says looking ahead, whether the Farmer’s Almanac is correct or not, the department statewide seems to be in pretty good shape for whatever kind of winter Mother nature delivers.
“We allocate about $55 million, I believe, annually statewide for winter operations. I believe the statistic from last year was we spent about $30. So we have a significant amount of resources still available left over from last winter.”
Roeger also says the main issue is whether or not MoDOT will be fully-staffed for the winter season.
