The National Transportation Safety Board now says that an in-flight fire and subsequent loss of power is to blame for the August, 2020, airplane crash that killed the pilot and one passenger in Osage Beach.

Preliminary reports indicated that witnesses reported the pilot flooded the engine and fuel was draining from the engine compartment shortly before taking off from the Grand Glaize Airport.

A toxicology report discounted the possibility of the pilot being under the influence and the autopsy determined that trauma from injuries suffered during the crash are to blame for his death and the death of his wife.
