Not a road trip the Royals are going to be incredibly thrilled about it, but they do exit Oakland with a win on Thursday afternoon.
They beat the A’s by a score of 3-2.
At the plate, it was Freddy Fermin.
Not once, but twice, smacking home runs for the Royals in one of his biggest contributions of the year. Finished 3-4.
Fermin hitting over 300 for the season, so certainly not to sell him short, but only four home runs on the season now.
Not someone you expect to come out swinging the big stick.
Bobby Witt Jr., different story.
He does hit a critical home run in this ballgame.
Broke up a 2-2 tie with his 12th long ball of the season.
Even as the Royals struggle, Bobby Witt Jr. certainly is not.
He goes deep. He’s hitting 322 on the season in OPS over 920.
So the Royals will see this road trip continue tonight.
They’ll take on a Texas Ranger team.
The defending World Series champions haven’t been playing great baseball.
They’re 34-40 on the year, but Nathan Evaldi, a very good pitcher, he’ll go up against Brady Singer, who’s 4-4 with a 3-3-9 ERA.
How about the Cardinals? Interesting series with the Marlins.
Every game coming down to the wire.
Two extra inning games. Two walk-offs.
And the latest walk-off a winner Wednesday for the Marlins, 4-3 over the Cardinals….on a day where Kyle Gibson was a late scratch due to a back injury.
