Two People Wanted On Outstanding Warrants Arrested Following Traffic Stop

Two people are taken into custody and are being held in the Camden County Jail following a routine traffic stop Saturday morning near South State Hwy-5 and Mount Horeb Road.

Sergeant Scott Hines says the driver, 45-year-old Joseph Riggs of Springfield, and a passenger, 26-year-old Yuriy Lyashuk with an out-of-state California, were both taken into custody.

“We collected quite a bit of drugs out of the vehicle, some paraphernalia, a loaded handgun, some body armor and night vision goggles.”

Riggs reportedly had multiple active warrants and is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance while Lyashuk is charged with one count…both are being held on $150,000 bonds.
