A bill percolating through a committee in the Missouri State Senate could come out that would closely mirror a bill in Florida that critics refer to as “Don’t Say Gay.”
If passed the bill would bar any school personnel from talking about sexual orientation and gender identity with ANY K-through-12 public or charter school student unless the parents gave prior permission.
Sarah Fessler of central Missouri’s Wardsville testified in favor of the measure.
She said that her child started to identify as gay and trans after meeting and talking with a school counselor.
Opponents accuse those in favor of the bill of attempting to erase gay and trans kids.
