Final Patrol Numbers For Christmas Holiday Released

The final numbers are in from the Christmas Holiday and the highway patrol says it responded to a pair of fatal traffic accidents in the Lake Area…one in Morgan County on Christmas Eve.

It claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman from Florence.

The second fatal crash happened on Monday afternoon in Camden County and killed an Arcola woman.

She was in a vehicle struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by 51 year old Steven Vonderschmidt of Linn Creek.

He’s now facing felony D.U.I. charges.

The highway patrol also reported the arrest of a Wentzville man for a traffic-related offense and for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

On the water, there were no incidents reported over the holiday weekend.

Troopers say statewide over the holiday weekend they recorded 306 traffic accidents with 84 injuries and 3 fatalities total – including the two in the Lake Area.

They also made 52 DWI arrests.
