One Person Killed In Multi-Car Accident Out Of Camden County

One person is dead and two others injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle accident late Monday afternoon on U-S 54, just west of Tangled Trail in Camden County.

The highway patrol report says that it happened when the vehicle driven by 51-year-old Steven Vonderschmidt, of Linn Creek, travelled off the roadway before returning to the road and crossing the center into the path of the vehicle driven by 75-year-old Larry Graham of Arcola with both vehicles coming to rest off the road.

A passenger in Graham’s vehicle, 73-year-old Susan Graham, was taken to Lake Regional and pronounced dead a short time later.

Graham, himself, suffered moderate injuries while Vonderschmidt was seriously hurt…they were also taken to Lake Regional.

The highway patrol also indicates that Vonderschmidt was allegedly drunk at the time and will be charged with DWI-causing the death of another and DWI causing serious physical injury.
