Meteorologists are urging people to start preparing for potentially dangerous weather patterns. Next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Missouri and Kansas. Mike Griffin with the National Weather Service in Springfield says we’re all aware that spring and summer storms can be dangerous….he adds they’re even more dangerous when you don’t know they’re coming….and because of our geographic location, predicting those events is more difficult than most places in the country.
Each day next week the NWS will feature tips on different types of dangerous weather, including severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, flooding and more. The week’s activities will include a statewide tornado drill on Tuesday…although they say that in the case of bad weather that day, they’ll move the drill to Thursday.
