Friday Was National 811 Day – A Reminder To Always Call Before You Dig

It is National 8-1-1 Day…a day to raise awareness about the dangers involved when it comes to projects which include any digging around your home or business.

“Any home projects. Moving your deck, moving a mailbox, adding a flowerbed or garden, putting in a retaining wall. You’ll always want to call 811 before you start that digging project.”

Ameren Damage Prevention Public Awareness Specialist Ramona Schatzer also says getting your utility locations marked is free and it is the law before you do any projects.

A record total of more than 1.5 million in Missouri and Illinois requested that utilities be marked in 2022.
