A Linn Creek family is homeless and 14 pets are dead after a fire shortly before 9:00 Christmas Eve morning in the area of Calvert Lane.

Osage Beach Chief Paul Berardi says it took about 10 minutes to reach the scene with personnel discovering the single-wide trailer was fully involved and another minute to start attacking the blaze.

Freezing temperatures and icy conditions hampered efforts with personnel from Osage Beach and Mid-County on the scene for about an hour and a half.

Fortunately, other than the pets, there were no injuries reported and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

The cause of the fire is being ruled as undetermined due to the amount of damage.

However, Osage Beach fire is advising lake area residents in the wake of this fire to only plug space heaters directly into the wall and make there are no combustibles near the space heater.
